My Review

This next review is from the year 1956 called Rock, Rock , Rock never see it or heard it before so let’s see what I think.

Well can say this is a musical and teen drama well guess you have a problem just singing about it makes you feel better opening moments is around a girl who dreaming about going to dance but she out of money so must find a way to pay for dress for the dance because he father won’t give too her he reminds me as mr crabs money hog who going to cancel accounts if she keeps running out of money after watching first 17 mins there was some interesting music from lots of legends of Chuck berry and others I think the girl singing was Dubbed maybe she can’t sing well so they added that not much a fan of that but girl had a find a way to get a quick $30 bucks seem like it was tough to get that back in days this movie was ok seem to force on music more now I know why it’s Rock, Rock, Rock but that good they force on music a lot but heck this was 1950’s so movies were like this though so I wonder how the rest of movie goes after 35 mins of singing and good music well her dad give her a deal he give her $15 bucks out of $30 but the other half she must earn it sounds like a fair deal now that movie picking up because it will be interesting how this young lady gets money for dance try and find a job is the way I would go first so she goes to bank thinking she can earn it bye loan people little does know this may backfire later on and because of greedy new girl who set her up by not paying so now she does not have a new dress and no date as well ouch but thanks to tip from her dad she may of figure how to iron out her problem but her problem at first look like it got worst but she smart as I think and figure it out the look on father face when deal was done was priceless so after the last half of movie was school rock and roll dance with good music that was pretty much the whole movie for story music and some teen drama as well not a bad movie but could of been better some.

Well lots and lots of good music which was good could of left a lot of teen drama out but not bad for a old 1950’s movie nice list of good singers and lots of good dance too would I watch this again all I got to say is maybe don't have time to list bands and singers but you have too look up it is very good lineup.

I give the movie Rock,Rock, Rock  (1956) a rating of 6/10 for ok

Mary Pickford: Fanchon the Cricket (1915) movie review

ary Pickford: Fanchon the Cricket (1915) movie review

Starring……….. Mary Pickford, Gertrude Norman and Russell Bassett

Directed by……….. James Kirkwood

Synopsis

A wild young girl, who lives in the woods with odd grandmother villagers imagine to be a witch, falls in love with a boy she saves from drowning.

Warning spoilers ahead

Rare info before the review that need to be added

Mary Pickford died Believing that Fanchon the Cricket, Released in 1915, was among her lost films. She was devastated because she had actively tried to preserve her films and Fanchon was the only time she appeared with both her sister Lottie and her brother Jack.

In 2012, the Mary Pickford foundation learned that a nitrate dupe of Fanchon the Cricket was preserved at La Cinematheque franchise, and conversations began that led to a unique partnership between the Pickford foundation and the Cinematheque to restore the film. An incomplete nitrate print was preserved at the British film Institute and, with their cooperation, we now had all the elements necessary for a successful restoration. L’Immagine Ritrovata laboratory in Italy then scanned the two nitrate elements directly at 4k resolution, and further digital restoration was performed. A new negative and 35MM prints were created from the restored digital version.

Colors were recreated by referring to the original Tinting notes on the nitrate print and the dupe negative leaders. The missing English intertitles have been reconstructed by translating from the French on the dupe negative. The digital mastering was completed at Roundabout entertainment in Los Angeles .

Fanchon the Cricket captures Mary Pickford at the height of the popularity of her “Wall” character. The film was directed by James Kickwood, photographed by Edward Wynard and based on the novel by George sand, adapted for screen by James kickwood and Frances Marion.

My Review

Ok had to add because I figure some would like to read that now as for Mary Pickford did not know much about her but now after reading she made almost 200 films that one heck of record and figure I take a look at one of her movies for the first time now this is a silent movie so no talking just music the version I am watching also as info said she star with her brother and sister in this as well so this indeed is very rare movie so let see what I think of this rare 1915 that is indeed old.

This was on Tubi so watching it there must say it something I am watching a 1915 silent movie or film it is a very funny some as well for a movie this old it look good in 4k they did a good job making it clean and nice as well amazing and story is pretty good best parts to me when she beat the crap out of boy who wanting to fight her and boy she kick his ass can of funny I did feel sorry for her look like she was all alone and not fitting in with anybody but that all changes when she men life after he fall in river look like he dive was a little off though in my view little funny there anyway she gets all dress up pretty and well it did work for a while but still hate her they did funny part is when they try to find her she hide under a bed sheet as a white ghost and all of them got scared and Scrambled it was funny moment there..

So does he marry or not well she turn him down unless he father give his blissing to Mary her the one she loves gets a fever and then father let her come to cheer him up they never did say if she married or not just show her talking to camera with a huge smile and she said thanks for coming bye if I am right as movie fate with her dancing away nice way to end this classic and beautiful movie.

This is probably the best silent movie I see with a great Actress as well Mary went on to do over 200 films back in the days that too me no doubt is amazing and she indeed queen of movies in my view what a true Legends she was in my view hope to see more of her movies and later review more of Mary Pickford movies check them out folks this indeed classic stuff back from the days.

note that film I just review is 108 years old.

I give Mary Pickford : Fanchon the cricket (1915) a rating of 8/10 for great

Director…….. Jerry Lewis

Synopsis

A timid, nearsighted chemistry teacher discovers a magical potion that can transform him into a suave and handsome Romeo. The Jekyll and Hyde game works well enough until the concoction starts to wear off at the most embarrassing times.

Warning spoilers ahead

My Review

Figure since I review the Eddie Murphy version of this one years ago will take a look at the Original one that came out in 1963 and trust me can’t not wait to review this classic movie so let’s get started.

Have to say this is one of Jerry Lewis best movie Performance in my view it is very funny how he play this character well done too and in this one he plays chemistry teacher he was very goofing but I had a lot of laughs did feel sorry for him because he was not well liked too much well nerd thing does that but there one person who is nice to him her name was Mrs. pretty played by Stella Stevens who acting was amazing in this one as well the story of movie is very good like how it was written it like a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde thing but not in a scary well this time well maybe the transformation part was scary but it did pay off because he become this cool guy name Buddy love this again where Jerry Lewis is gold on acting he gets to play 2 great characters in this one is what I enjoy And at the end when truth comes out he give one of most powerful message ever in a movie in my view which make this movie even more great in my view the ending was very good for this great classic.

If you like old classics this one is for Jerry Lewis again is great In this he also a great singer as well the acting is good as well great comedy this it also the story of 2 people in one but in that end proves being yourself is good enough. And also there is a little love story between the two guess which was ok in my view for years I will remember this movie being a classic old movie one and this indeed a must see movie for everybody.

I give the nutty professor (1963) a rating of 8/10 for great .

Director...... Guy Green

Synopsis

A blind, uneducated white girl is befriended by a black man, who becomes determined to help her escape her impoverished and abusive home life by introducing her to the outside world.

Warning spoilers ahead

My Review

A patch of Blue is one of best movies I ever see for a old movie back in the days the acting was amazing as well the story was also written very good enough to drop everything your doing and just watch the friendship between them two it was good she was blind and he was black they meet in a odd way too she was Straining some Beads and a grass hopper though in her shirt and he offer to help her out and that how they meet and become good friends she sure ask a lot of questions but it is cute how they meet but story has more this was friendship back in time where rules between black and white was up in the air so they had to be careful from lots finding out and her Rose as well her mom who is played by the great Shelley Winters love some of her movies and trust me she play a mean mom in this one so good on acting so added that to movie as story as well makes it good as well.

Best part of movie is when they are shopping for food it was fun watching Sidney Poitier was amazing he made this Scene fun to watch with her he also helping her out so she won’t mess up too also the girl is very smart too this again proves how great this movie is with great acting as well as story this I hope won many awards because it was written so good too as for ending it was kind of sad but I understand it had to end that way not going to let over shadow this movie that for sure.

This one of many great movies we had in 60’s in my view great acting from Elizabeth Hart and Sidney Poitier both work well with each other in this but sadly as I write this got news today Sidney pass away today what a great actor he was and I hope In Heaven Elizabeth and Sidney meet under the tree as they did in this movie and may he Rest In Peace now.

If you have not see this classic do so it a great movie between 2 great people who become friends in a unknown time that for sure for years to come will always remember this movie being a classic movie.

I give a patch of blue a rating out of 10/10 a 9/10 for classic and great.

A long new Review of Wizard of Oz (1939

Starring ........ Judy Garland, Frank Morgan and Ray Bolger

Directors....... Victor Fleming, George Cukor and Mervyn LeRoy

Synopsis

Warning lots of Spoilers ahead

My Review

Welcome to long version of Wizard of Oz review I am very excited to review this movie yet again and before review ends you will also find out who is my favorite character of all time as well so no more delay let’s get this review underway.

The intro of movie is amazing with credits along with some of best music for opening you ever listen too also before movie hits they give you a message on screen with this For nearly forty years this story has given faithful service to the young at Heart , and Time has been powerless to put its kindly philosophy out of fashion.

To those of you who have been faithful to it in return

...and to the young in heart ... we dedicate this picture.

Very beautiful words there greatest opening there with beautiful music as well with Orchestral music opening playing in background fits in very well pretty much there you know this was indeed a start of being a classic.

Wizard of Oz is indeed magic movie from start to end too me from start where Dorothy is running down the road with Toto too me for a guy who read the book it about as close to book too me even though everything from book was not it though this movie from Judy Garland singing somewhere over the rainbow which was almost cut from the movie which would of been a shame also the Tornado scene was some of best effects I see in this pretty much it was well done for Tornado effects amazing well done for 1939 and also next great Scene is when Dorothy lands in Oz and black and white turn to Technicolor it was well done and Beautiful as well for movie history that you ever see and probably don’t see much in other movies back then that Beautiful moment this is another reason why it is a classic as well.

What I also like about this movie is the way it looks with great Designs and costumes as well everybody look great In there costumes Included Margaret Hamilton as witch with green face and black Costume makes it look scary and added greatness to story as well so hats off to Costume designer for making this movie almost real for the story thumbs up too that.

Well we are getting near the end of this review time to tell you who my Favorite Wizard of Oz character of all time is well let say it is Dorothy because of again somewhere over the rainbow she sings was so great had to pick her but do note Do like them all the others as well witch well she was ok but scary flying Monkeys was can of creepy as well.

So for ending of movie was it a dream or not too sure but if you read the books that will help you out as it did with me but it was good way to ended making you think it was a dream or not and with the words there no place like home then it rolls to credits.

In closing for years ahead this movie will forever be a classic movie with great signing and good storytelling it came as about close to book as it gets for this new movie if you still have not see this one yet do so because again you will indeed like it as much as I do.

I give Wizard of Oz (1939) a rating out of 10/10 a 8/10 for great classic movie.
